At Lagoon Pocket B&B we believe that caring for our guests and caring for the environment are all part of the same thing. That is why when you stay with us, you will not only enjoy award winning four star luxury and hospitality but also know that our CO2 emissions are just 16.6% of the average for the industry.
That’s right, when you stay with us your carbon footprint will be over 80% less than the average B&B!
The key conclusions from our 2009 environmental assessment were:
- CO2 - Our CO2 produced per guest night is just 16.6% of the industry baseline average. This is a 10% reduction from 2008.
- Energy - Our energy consumption per guest night is just 20% of the industry baseline average. This is a 7.5% reduction from our 2008 figures.
- Waste to landfill - Our Waste to landfill was just 50% of the industry baseline average - and a 33% reduction in waste to landfill from our 2008 figures.
We use the Earthcheck system from EC3 to monitor and benchmark our environmental performance. EC3 is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Sustainable Tourism Cooperative Research Centre (STCRC), the world’s largest provider of travel and tourism research. Their origins date back to 1987 and they draw on research from over 250 tourism and environmental sustainability leaders in 16 universities.
